Boys Basketball gets win against Oregon-Davis

Game Recap: Wheeler 55, Oregon-Davis 36 The Wheeler Bearcats earned a 55–36 victory over Oregon-Davis Wednesday night, pulling away late thanks to strong defense and timely shooting. Wheeler entered halftime with a 6-point advantage and maintained control heading into the fourth quarter after Sean Schafer drilled a buzzer-beating three to put the Bearcats up by seven after three quarters. In the final quarter, Wheeler’s defensive pressure took over. The Bearcats forced several Oregon-Davis turnovers, turning them into points and steadily extending the lead. By the final buzzer, Wheeler had secured a 19-point win. Schafer led the way offensively, scoring a career-high 15 points, and was the only Bearcat to reach double figures. Ty Schafer had another solid game, recording 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals. The 6 rebounds and 4 steals led the team in those categories. Caleb McLaughlin led the team in assists with 3, while also scoring 6 points. Overall on the night, The Bearcats held Oregon-Davis to 27.7% shooting. The team concludes their 5 game home stand Friday night when they host Lake Station in a Greater South Shore Conference game. JV will tip at 5:30 with Varsity to follow at 7:00pm.
